Plog Engineering provides land surveying, civil engineering, and land use services for homeowners, architects, and small developers across the Puget Sound region. We built the firm around the clients bigger companies tend to overlook — first-time builders, individual property owners, and small developments that need an experienced hand they can actually reach. Every project is handled personally by the principal, so the person you talk to is the person doing the work.
Mark X. Plog, PE, PLS
Founder and Principal
Mark is a licensed professional engineer and professional land surveyor in Washington State (PE #31976, PLS #31976) and is also licensed in Texas. He holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Texas A&M University and has more than 30 years of experience in land development and construction.
Earlier in his career, Mark founded and led GeoDatum, growing it to a staff of more than 30 and handling very large projects for what was then the largest land developer in Washington. After the 2007 real estate downturn, he made a deliberate choice: he had come to feel disconnected from the actual work, so he went small — and stayed small. Plog Engineering is the result. Holding both the engineering and surveying licenses lets Mark personally carry a property from the boundary and topographic survey through civil design and land use approvals, giving smaller clients the kind of direct, senior-level attention that's hard to find anywhere else.
